Tonight for homework you will be reviewing ways in which authors create/establish setting.
To complete the assignment, take a piece of a paper (you will be writing about "The Most Dangerous Game" on one side and doing a short creative writing piece on the other)
1. Front Side of the Paper
- Identify 3 specific examples of suspense from "The Most Dangerous Game"
- Identify 2 example of foreshadowing from "The Most Dangerous Game"
* Keep the definitions in mind
Suspense: a state or condition of mental uncertainty or excitement, as in awaiting a decision or outcome, usually accompanied by a degree of apprehension or anxiety.
Foreshadowing: A hint that suggests what will happen in the future
2. Back Side of the Paper
A suspenseful paragraph that incorporates the 4 specifics discussion class.
- Set the Stage- Place the Character in a Dangerous Place or a Place That Evokes Fear
- Give Insight Into How The Character is Feeling
- Show Don’t Tell
- Slow Time Down
You paragraph should not be a story, it should only establish setting. It can be about any place you wish
Please remember to write for at lest 3/4 of a page, use the model I gave you in class, and write the heading on the top of the paper
